Statement by the International Human Rights Agency WEST SUPPORT Calling for Peace in Tripoli

The International Human Rights Agency WEST SUPPORT strongly condemns the outbreak of violence in Tripoli, Libya, on May 12-13, 2025, which claimed lives and endangered countless civilians. We are deeply alarmed by the use of heavy weaponry in densely populated areas, actions that threaten the fundamental rights and safety of the Libyan people.

We call on all parties to the conflict—armed groups, political leaders, and their supporters—to immediately cease hostilities and prioritize the protection of civilian lives. For the sake of Libya’s children and future generations, we urge all factions to resolve disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, not violence. The path to a peaceful and democratic Libya lies in cooperation and respect for human rights, not in destruction and retribution.

WEST SUPPORT stands in solidarity with the people of Libya and reiterates its commitment to monitoring the situation and advocating for justice and equality. Let us choose peace as the legacy we leave for our children.
